Dry Casting Report March 2003

Judging by the senior's score sheet, there were quite a few out of bounders and snap offs during the distance events. Even a couple of veterans had the same problems. I gather the strong cross winds had a bit to do with the results. Still, a few good distances were put down by some.

Now speaking from a rare experience, have you ever had a day where almost everything went smoothly and your mental state was relaxed and at it's near best? I felt a tad that way during the double handed accuracy event (well alright, my casting was good but my mental state - that's another chapter.)

So good, that I pipped Roy and George in the scores and came up trumps. Excuse me while I swagger around with a swelled head for a day or two - ( I didn't hear that)

The Club owns an air conditioned holiday house at Kalbarri which is available for rent to the public and club members at competitive rates

Visitor Joe Pullella really has a style of his own and gave a powerful display during the distance casting. Steady casting gave Nick the 112 gram event and the 56 gram event went to Chas. Shifty comments about money, the rattling of loose change, many ribald remarks and loads of hoots and laughter were heard during the single handed event and eventually winner George collected at the end of the day.

The trial of swapping markers after each event went smoothly and took a huge load off Willo's and my shoulders, allowing both of us to really enjoy ourselves. I guess a roster system wouldn't go astray, but consideration must be given to a couple of the older lads.

Keep it straight and long. Hendo.
