Dry Casting Report March 2002

It was good to see a few members of the Northern Districts Fishing Club join us for our casting day. That "Grand Master" Huey, Ron Mathews and big, bad Brian Walton, (joking only fellas) showed us their casting talents and gave us good competition. Still it didn't stop our "Roy the boy" from going about his usual way and winning the double handed event, then sharing honours with Alphonse in the single-handed. Quality distance casting also earned him the title of "top dog" for the day. Well done, Roy.

As you can see by the score sheet, the distance casting was a close challenge, but Chas, George and Gary shared the honours. The highlight of the day was Chas' cast of 176 metres during the 112 gram Open event, which earned him the new club record for the 112 gram level line distance. One of his casts snapped off, and we found his sinker only 20 metres from the big tree at the other end of the Oval. Congratulations, Chas.

Young Rhys Jones had the mini juniors competition to himself and with dedication and concentration produced some fabulous casting.

The Club owns an air conditioned holiday house at Kalbarri which is available for rent to the public and club members at competitive rates

How good? Try telling everyone that young Rhys reset the club record for the 112 gram, 56 gram and double handed event on one day. What about explaining to others that we also checked the State records and found Rhys had also broken every record in those events. Just let me tell you that I was happy chappie when I handed the applications into the WA AAA records. Can't wait to present the rewards to young Rhys.

To the blokes who gave Terry and me assistance on the day with our visitors, and clearing the casting arena, a special thank you.

Keep it straight and long.
